Xinhua Finance/MNI China Business Survey: Production Curbed
September 28, 2007


    SHANGHAI, China, Sept. 28 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Xinhua
Finance (TSE Mothers: 9399) and Market News International

today announced the September Xinhua Finance/MNI China
Business Sentiment Survey. The results of the survey
suggest that while overall business conditions remain
stable at a relatively high level, companies have reined in
production growth and are adding new productive capacity at
a slower rate.

    While the indexes reflecting current business and
financial conditions appear to have stabilized after
falling from record high levels in the spring, the indexes
for both production levels and productive capacity dropped
to their lowest levels ever in the September survey. The
index showing expectations for future new orders also hit a
record low.

    The monthly survey was conducted September 10-24 and
comes amid rising interest rates and other measures imposed
by the government to slow what some say is an overheating
economy.

    Since its inception in January, 2005, the survey has
accurately tracked and predicted overall Chinese economic
conditions, providing important intelligence ahead of
government data. The survey has been especially important
in indicating turnarounds in the economy, such as last
summer's slowdown or the pickup in activity seen since last
fall.

Nike Names Sandy Bodecker Vice President of Design

Global Payments Reports First Quarter Earnings
September 28, 2007


    ATLANTA, Sept. 28 /Xinhua-PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Global Payments Inc. (NYSE: GPN) today announced results
for its first quarter ended August 31, 2007.  For the first
quarter, revenue grew 19 percent to $311.0 million compared
to $260.3 million in the prior year.  Excluding the impact
of current period restructuring charges, diluted earnings
per share grew 6 percent to $0.54 compared to $0.51 in the
prior year quarter.

    In accordance with GAAP, the current quarter includes
restructuring charges (see attached reconciliation
schedule) relating to an operating center consolidation
announced in March 2007.  These charges are reflected in
our GAAP diluted earnings per share amounts.  For the three
months ended August 31, 2007, GAAP diluted earnings per
share was $0.53 compared to $0.51 in the prior year period.
 

    During the current quarter, Global Payments completed
$67.9 million in open market repurchases of 1.8 million
shares at an average price of $37.27 per share, including
commissions paid.  As of August 31, 2007, the company had
$32.1 million remaining under its current share repurchase
authorization.

    Comments and Outlook

    Chairman, President and CEO, Paul R. Garcia, stated,
"We are pleased with our fiscal 2008 first quarter
results, which were driven by growth in our merchant
services segment.  Our revenue growth was primarily driven
by continued organic expansion in our domestic ISO channel,

our Canadian merchant services channel benefited from a

Prix Galien USA Names HUMIRA Best Biotechnology Product

Abbott (NYSE: ABT), a leader in the treatment of autoimmune
diseases, has received the 2007 Galen Prize for Best
Biotechnology Product for HUMIRA (R) (adalimumab), the
first approved fully human antibody.  HUMIRA is approved
for use in the treatment of moderate to severe rheumatoid
arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and
moderate to severe Crohn's disease.  The Galen Prize,
considered an equivalent to the Nobel Prize and awarded by
Prix Galien USA, is one of the highest accolades in the
pharmaceutical and biomedical industry recognizing
excellence in medical and scientific research and
innovation.  

    This is the first year in which the award, founded in
France in 1970 and recognized as an international research
honor, has been expanded to recognize scientific innovation
from U.S. pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies
specifically.  Abbott won the prestigious Prix Galien
international award in 1999 for developing one of the first
protease inhibitors for the treatment of HIV.

    Important Safety Information About HUMIRA 

    Serious infections, sepsis, tuberculosis (TB) and
opportunistic infections, including fatalities, have been
reported with the use of TNF-blocking agents, including
HUMIRA.  Many of these serious infections have occurred in
patients also taking other immunosuppressive agents that,
in addition to their underlying disease, could predispose
them to infections.  Infections have also been reported in
patients receiving HUMIRA alone.  Treatment with HUMIRA
should not be initiated in patients with active infections.
 TNF-blocking agents, including HUMIRA, have been associated
with reactivation of hepatitis B (HBV) in patients who are
chronic carriers of this virus.  Some cases have been
fatal.  Patients at risk for HBV infections should be
evaluated for prior evidence of HBV infections before
initiating HUMIRA.  The combination of HUMIRA and anakinra
is not recommended and patients using HUMIRA should not
receive live vaccines.

    More cases of malignancies have been observed among
patients receiving TNF blockers, including HUMIRA, compared
to control patients in clinical trials.  These malignancies,
other than lymphoma and non-melanoma skin cancer, were
similar in type and number to what would be expected in the
general population.  

    There was an approximately 3.5 fold higher rate of
lymphoma in combined controlled and uncontrolled open-label
portions of HUMIRA clinical trials.  The potential role of
TNF-blocking therapy in the development of malignancies is
not known. TNF-blocking agents, including HUMIRA, have been
associated in rare cases with demyelinating disease and
severe allergic reactions.  Infrequent reports of serious
blood disorders have been reported with TNF-blocking
agents.  

    Worsening congestive heart failure (CHF) has been
observed with TNF-blocking agents, including HUMIRA, and
new onset CHF has been reported with TNF-blocking agents. 
Treatment with HUMIRA may result in the formation of
autoantibodies and rarely, in development of a lupus-like
syndrome.

    The most frequent adverse events seen in the
placebo-controlled clinical trials in adults with
rheumatoid arthritis (HUMIRA vs. placebo) were injection
site reactions (20 percent vs. 14 percent), upper
respiratory infection (17 percent vs. 13 percent),
injection site pain (12 percent vs. 12 percent), headache
(12 percent vs. 8 percent), rash (12 percent vs. 6 percent)
and sinusitis (11 percent vs. 9 percent).  Discontinuations
due to adverse events were 7 percent for HUMIRA and 4
percent for placebo.  As with any treatment program, the
benefits and risks of HUMIRA should be carefully considered
before initiating therapy.

    In HUMIRA clinical trials for ankylosing spondylitis,
psoriatic arthritis and Crohn's disease, the safety profile
for adult patients treated with HUMIRA was similar to the
safety profile seen in adult patients with rheumatoid
arthritis.

    In the United States, HUMIRA is approved by the Food
and Drug Administration (FDA) for reducing signs and
symptoms, inducing major clinical response, inhibiting the
progression of structural damage, and improving physical
function in adult patients with moderately to severely
active rheumatoid arthritis.  

    HUMIRA is indicated for reducing the signs and symptoms
of active arthritis, inhibiting the progression of
structural damage and improving physical function in
patients with psoriatic arthritis.  HUMIRA can be used
alone or in combination with methotrexate or other
disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs).  

    HUMIRA is also approved for reducing signs and symptoms
in patients with active ankylosing spondylitis. 

    Earlier this year, HUMIRA was approved for reducing the
signs and symptoms and inducing and maintaining clinical
remission in adults with moderately to severely active
Crohn's disease who have had an inadequate response to
conventional therapy, and reducing the signs and symptoms
and inducing clinical remission in these patients if they
have also lost response to or are intolerant to
infliximab.

    Clinical trials are currently under way evaluating the
potential of HUMIRA in other immune-mediated diseases.

Guangzhou Global Telecom Opens Beijing Branch

    GUANGZHOU, China, Sept. 27 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ --
Guangzhou Global Telecom Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: GZGT), a
mobile phone handset and pre-paid calling card distributor
and mobile handset value-added services provider in the
PRC, announced today that the company has successfully set
up a retail branch in Beijing, the capital of China. The
Beijing branch will be offering wireless products and
providing value-added technology services. A local company,
Beijing Lihe Jiahua Technology and Trading Company
("Lihe"), is willing to engage in a joint venture
with Guangzhou Global Telecom, and the company plans to
acquire 60% of Lihe at the cost of RMB1.5 million. Lihe is
the agent of several companies which are operating internet
games. Lihe is also the agent of China Unicom and intends to
cooperate with Net Telecom and China Mobile. Lihe's
un-audited revenue in 2006 is around 50 million RMB with 4
million RMB of gross profit.

【開発の背景と利用シーン】
いいめもプロジェクト第1弾のサービス「いいめも おこづかい帳」をリリースし
た際、ユーザーから岡田斗司夫氏が著書『いつまでもデブと思うなよ』(新潮新書、2007年)
で提唱している「自分の食事をすべて記録する」レコーディングダイエットに使い

かつて日本は、お隣同士お総菜を分け合ったり、お醤油を貸し借りしたりという「コミュニケーション」がありました。

8月24日にベータ版を公開して以来、すでに多くのブロガーが参加、定期的に記事を投稿しています。

IPAとLinux Foundationが相互協力協定を締結

Linuxの成長加速に取り組むグローバルな非営利団体であるThe Linux Foundation(略称:LF、日本ディレクタ 工内 隆)と、独立行政法人 情報処理推進機構(略称:IPA、理事長 藤原武平太)は、OSS(オープンソースソフトウェアの普及促進を加速するための相互の交流および協力を規定した相互協力協定(MCA:Mutual Cooperation Agreement)を締結しました。

これによりLFとIPAは、今後、技術開発の推進、標準化の推進、法的課題の研究、OSSに関する啓蒙活動に協力して取り組みます。両組織は、共同活動の第1弾として、来る10月30日、明治記念館にて開催する「IPAフォーラム2007」にてカンファレンスを共同開催いたします。


日本でもオープンソース利用への関心が高まっており、ディジタルテレビチューナなど、日本の多くのディジタル情報家電製品でLinuxが使われています。また、東京証券取引所は、次期システムをLinuxベースで構築することを決定し、政府調達においても、法務省は、次期の登記情報システムをLinuxベースで開発中です。
さらに、2007年7月、日本政府は、省庁関連のIT調達において、オープン・スタンダードの採用を促すことを決定し、政府は、来年度のIT関連の政府調達額を1兆2,500億円 (約104億ドル)と試算しています。
この調達方針により、政府の情報システムの公平でオープンな調達が一層促進されることになります。

LFのエグゼクティブディレクターであるJim Zemlin (ジム・ゼムリン)は次のように述べています。
「日本の企業と開発者は、Linux Foundationの設立当初からの強力な支持者です。私どもは、日本におけるLinuxとオープンソースの開発者をもっと支援したいと思います。IPAとの契約は、世界各地域におけるLinux FoundationのLinux推進活動の一部であり、オープンソースコミュニティがさらに大きくなって行くために非常に重要なことだと考えています。」

ガートナー社は、アジアの中規模および大規模な政府機関において中核となるIT業務でのオープンソースの採用は成長を続けており、2004年後半における実績は15%以下だったのに対して、2010年までに60%に達すると予想しています。

IPAの理事長である藤原武平太は次のように述べています。
「IPAとLinux Foundationは、Linuxとオープンソースソフトの利用拡大をリードしてきました。二つの組織が力をあわせ、重要なイベントを開催したり、技術開発や標準化、さらには法的課題への取り組みなど、いろいろな領域で協調することにより、日本の企業におけるOSS採用を拡大することを支援したいと思います。日本のオープンソースソフトは、今後も世界のオープンソース革命の中で重要な役割を果たして行くことを期待しています。」
